The inclined plane is probably the most simple machine out of all the simple machines because of two things: it can be anything and because the inclined plane doesn’t move, you do. An incline plane is an object with a flat surface that is higher one one end. The higher end rests on another object while the lower end is usually on the ground. The inclined plane (also called a ramp) is usually used to help move something like when people move their furniture into a moving truck. Another example of an inclined plane is the ramps that are used in front of buildings for people who are perhaps wheel-chair bound. The inclined plane is also one of the toughest simple machines to use because it doesn’t do the work for you, you do it all yourself. The inclined plane was originally used over 3,000 years ago by the Egyptians when they built the tombs for their pharaohs.
